about

This was the first real 'band" I was in. I love the sound and power of two basses with a huge wall of amps. I wanted to see what could be done with it. I guess you could say we were going for a heavy sludge psychedelic art rock thing. We lucked it and got a genius behind the console: Tom Grimley. Tom worked with many people including Beck, That Dog, The Rentals & Weezer. His ear and excellence with a mixing board was legendary!

Tom encouraged us to play with synthesizers and experiment with sounds which would end up taking up most our nights. We had a running joke (it was easy to get lost and never find the same sound again):

"CALL THE MOOG POLICE BOBBY"

The band was originally called Dogstar but Keanu Reeves happened to be in a band with the same name. We talked on the phone several times and to my astonishment he was a really cool, sweet guy. He sent me a copy of the book that listed his band name (a day in the life 1993 - I think it was?) and we talked about music and guitar pedals. Someone like that could have crushed me with lawyers and BS but this guy had a heart of gold! I pretty much saw every Keanu movie after that and loved the Matrix. Anyways, we changed the name to a spin off on the Peanuts gang (making the loser the hero!) and Charles Brown Superstar was born.

Benett vocals reminds me of Kim Gordon meets Bikini Kill or something. She was always encouraging and an excellent artist in her own right. She didn’t really want to tour so that was that as they say. Enjoy!

about

The Warlocks Los Angeles, California

The Warlocks started because of the their mutual love of all things Rock and Roll. We love a lot of the 60s, 70s and some 80s inspired music. We are not a retro band though. We all always try new stuff and from time to time hit something great.
